Sorry but it was beautiful
April 25, 2008
“Sorry I took your money and burned it
but it looked like the world falling
apart when it crackled and burned.
So I think it was worth it after all
you can’t see the world fall apart
every day.”
Heard on last weeks episode of This American Life. Also found in comments here, credited to Andrew Vecchione (6th Grade). Spoof of William Carlos Williams’s This Is Just To Say.
If you are a more talented poet than I, please share your own spoof. The original poem is:
“I have eaten the plums
that were in the icebox
and which
you were probably
saving
for breakfast
Forgive me
they were delicious
so sweet
and so cold”

I’m normally not a fan of poetry.. but I like the symbolism in both
I like short and simple poems. Like these!
And this one.
And this one too, my favorite perhaps.
