Anniversary Showcase Showdown
It is our anniversary this month, and I was hoping to plan a little weekend getaway for the two of us. We’ve also been talking a lot about getting an iPad3. T proposed that we choose just one and save ourselves $$$$. (I proposed he do more contracting work before starting his post-doc, then we could do both! Mostly joking, but there is more than one way to meet your savings targets !) He’s all super interested in our budget since I recently organized and shared everything with him (and with you).
Here are your Showcase options!
Two nights in the mountains in April! A short drive to Big Bear (we’ve never been!) Saturday morning, followed by a morning of romantic snowshoeing! One day of snowboarding for her and playing in the snow for him. A quiet Sunday evening in the hotel, followed by a Monday to drive home, relax and be free of work. Several meals out ranging from lunch to a romantic dinner!
Ipad3, Wi-Fi only, 16 GB! Internet surfing, blog reading, streaming stuff in bed, lightweight travel companion, setting it up in the kitchen while I cook… and most importantly, FaceTime with T when we are doing some long distance stuff. (I do have a webcam, but it is standalone and slightly awkward). Will not be used as an e-reader.
Which would you choose? Assume they total price comes out to be the same (in the $500-$600 range). Assume that if you go on vacation now, you MAYBE will get an iPad in 8-9 months anyway. Assume if you choose the iPad, your husband will plan a local date for you that will be on the cheap, but fun (think: hiking, maybe even kayaking, a nice dinner at a non-fancy place). Assume you already own a kindle and an (older, heavy) laptop. Assume you have a weekend away planned in May and 9 days in June. Assume that you LOVE mountains and outdoor stuff, and are new to winter sports. Also assume you love blog reading and having the internet on the go.
